Rashmika Mandanna expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards her co-star Amitabh Bachchan from the movie 'Goodbye' for coming to her defence amid an ongoing viral deepfake video controversy. Her gesture of thanks followed her initial statement in which she expressed her concerns regarding the deepfake video.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) Rashmika extended her gratitude towards Amitabh.
She shared his tweet that called for 'legal action' and added her message, saying, “Thank you for standing up for me, sir. I feel safe in a country with leaders like you.”
The controversy erupted after a deepfake video featuring Rashmika went viral. She described the situation as "extremely scary" due to the misuse of technology. Her co-star from 'Goodbye,' Amitabh Bachchan, called for legal action to address the issue.
Amitabh Bachchan was swift to react when a fact-checker shared the deepfake clip alongside the original video of Zara Patel, a British-Indian social media personality, emphasizing the urgent need for a legal and regulatory framework to combat deepfakes in India. In response, Amitabh firmly commented, "Yes, this is a strong case for legal."
Rashmika also conveyed her concerns on Instagram, revealing how "really hurt" she was by the video, which depicted a woman inside an elevator dressed in black workout attire, with her face manipulated through artificial intelligence (AI) to resemble Rashmika.
On the professional front, Rashmika Mandanna is gearing up for her role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's movie 'Animal,' which also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Tripti Dimri. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 1. Additionally, she will be appearing in Sukumar's action film 'Pushpa 2: The Rule,' opposite Allu Arjun.
