A fair reason for sure...

Colors' much-talked about show, Roop - Mard Ka Naya Swaroop went on-air a couple of days ago, and the first hand reviews for the same have been great. The show highlights how patriarchal sensibilities are challenged by an innocent 8 year old boy whose questions are not only valid, but need answers too.

As we know, the show is produced by Rashmi Sharma, who is responsible for some of the most successful shows like Shakti... Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii currently; Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Sasural Simar Ka back then.

In a vis-a-vis conversation with the producer, we asked her if there was a specific reason that Roop.. was given a rural setting. Even though patriarchal, the thinking is prevalent in urban areas too. In the past also, we have seen multiple shows with societal issues having a rural setting.

To this, Rashmi answered, "Yes. You are absolutely right. It easily could have been an urban setting, but as you rightly mentioned about masses; so it is to tap the masses that we have given it an authentic and ethnic look and feel. And, it is not completely rural in its sense, but it's a small town of Gujarat that the story is set in. The colour, the language and the feel that we are getting from this small town of Gujarat is catering to pan India."
