Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has stimulated celebrities to open up about the issues they have faced in the industry. There has been a massive uproar amongst netizens to keep the insider vs outsider debate alive. This wave comes after Sushant’s untimely demise on June 14, 2020. The 34-year-old actor committed suicide at his Bandra house in Mumbai.

While many have already shared their experiences, actor Ranvir Shorey revealed that he suffered through similar isolation and psychological trauma. The actor adamantly denied revealing names but mentioned that it was the same people who are now involved.

Now, in a recent interview with ETimes Ranvir Shorey spilled the beans on the insider-outsider debate and also revealed the details of how he dealt with his film releases which didn’t get the necessary attention in the past.

Talking about the difficulties he experienced in the industry he shared, “I grew up on the fringes of the Hindi film industry. I have seen closely, since childhood, the politics that drives this business. As a grown-up professional, I have also borne the brunt of it. So you can say that I’m an insider, who has been treated as an outsider.”

Recently Ranvir got in a heated argument over the same with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Twitter. The argument definitely caught a lot of attention however, Ranvir cleared the air by calling it a 'minor misunderstanding'.

“Anurag is a friend of mine. It was a minor misunderstanding we had that got a lot of attention because it was on a public platform, which is also very high on drama. I was actually referring to a number of bloggers, journalists, critics, actors, and filmmakers, who made an identity for themselves as crusaders of independent cinema but are now trying to shut down someone who’s raising their voice against injustices in the mainstream system,” said Ranvir.

When questioned if the open debate would change the star culture in Bollywood and give more space and attention to actors, Ranvir said, “No, I don’t see any such hope. We’ll be lucky if all this talk can help shed some of the toxicity that stems from feudalism in Bollywood.”

Ranvir spoke about Sonchiriya not receiving it’s due and said, “Yes, I was terribly disappointed that the film didn’t perform well at the box office. But the silver lining was all the critical acclaim and love from the audience that the film has been slowly garnering. It’s always extremely exasperating and frustrating when a film suffers because of reasons other than the film’s own merit. I have always used those emotions to try to do better the next time.”

Meanwhile, Ranvir and Anurag Kashyap’s Twitter brawl went intense after the filmmaker asked the actor to not mix the pain of his past relationship with this debate. “So let’s talk . Right here. Whose flunky you think I am ? Dont mix the pain of your past relationship with this debate. I will say everything here .. the correction is needed in this industry like every industry . I operate alone .. bolo” tweeted Kashyap.

To which, Ranvir replied: “I didn’t mention you, so why don’t you confess whose flunky you are, if you’re so gutted by what I’ve said. And I don’t understand what you mean by “the pain of my past” nonsense. Don’t try to be my shrink. I assure you, I work even more alone than you!”
