Rajkummar Rao to make his debut as a producer for a dark comedy for Netflix?

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 was the biggest blockbuster of the year. Before that, his movie Srikanth did really well. Rajkummar Rao fans are keen to know what projects he will bring up next for them. As of now, he is working on Maalik that is being directed by Pulkit. It is produced by Tips Films. Now, Pinkvilla has reported that he is doing a movie with the director of Sector 36, Aditya Nimbalkar. The film will have a direct release on Netflix. The portal reported that this will be his debut as a producer.

Aditya Nimbalkar’s Sector 36 got rave reviews from the critics. It starred Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal and Akash Khurana in main roles. Sources told the website, “It’s a dark comedy set against the backdrop of a murder. Rajkummar Rao loved the subject to the extent that he decided to produce his himself. The actor took on the responsibilities of a producer, and then partnered with Netflix on a direct-to-digital deal.”

It seems the shoot for this Netflix original will start from January 2025 and it will be available for streaming on the platform by end of the year. In 2024, some Indian movies did very well on Netflix. While it is about a murder, the story is packed with dark comedy. People fell it is perfect for the global audience. The source added, “It’s a new flavour to the genre of murder, and the screenplay is packaged with twists and turns.”

Rajkummar Rao has also signed one more big project and the details will be out soon. Of late, his video went viral when he said that he does not charge too much for a film, and has to consider before buying anything too expensive like a car or a new home. He said like others he too has to worry about his EMIs.
