Actor and politician Raj Babbar took to Twitter to pen down a heartwarming note in memory of his late wife Smita Patil, on her 33rd death anniversary. Smita had succumbed to death on December 13, 1986, at a young age of 31.

Raj Babbar shared a picture of his late wife Smita and wrote on Twitter, “Today decades ago, you went away silently. Each year this day reminds me that you shall be missed more with every passing year.”

Check out the post below:

Smita had passed away due to childbirth complications and has only one son, Prateik Babbar, who is an actor too.

Earlier this week, on October 17, Prateik had taken to Instagram to wish his late mother on her birthday. He posted a beautiful picture of Smita and wrote alongside, “Happy birthday to my gorgeous lady.”

Talking of Smita’s professional graph, she had done films in multiple languages like Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, and Kannada. She delivered some of the finest performances in films like  Manthan (1976), Bhumika (1977), Gaman (1978), Aakrosh (1980), Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai (1980), Arth (1982), Bazaar (1982), Ardh Satya and Mandi (1983), Namak Halaal (1982), Shakti (1982) and Mirch Masala (1987) to name a few.

Smita is a recipient of two National Film Awards and a Padma Shri in 1985.

In 2015, while releasing a book on Smita called Smita Patil: A Brief Incandescence by Maithili Rao, Amitabh had been quoted by PTI as saying, “I was in Bangalore shooting for Coolie once. Late into the night at around 2 am I received a call in my hotel room. The receptionist informed me that it was Smita Patil on the line. I was shocked as I had never spoken or talked to her at such a time. Thinking that it would be an important one, I answered. Smita asked me if I was alright and in good health. I answered yes and she said that she just had a bad dream about me and that’s the reason behind calling up so late in night. The next day I had my accident.”
