Ragini Khanna on Posham Pa : “I have broken down on the sets because I couldn’t believe people could do that.”

Zee5’s latest offering Posham Pa starring Mahie Gill, Sayani Gupta and Ragini Khanna grabbed everyone’s attention with its dark characters and spine-chilling murders. The mysterious thriller which is based on true events launched a few days back. The web movie revolved around the life story of India’s first woman serial killer pair who received death penalty post-independence.. The film narrates the tale of a  psychologically disturbed mother who coerces her daughters into the life of crime.

Actress Ragini Khanna who played one of the sisters named Shikha Despande opened about the darkness of her character and her experiences while shooting the movie.

1. How would you describe your journey from Television to movies?

It has been extremely evolving and I have learnt a lot from everyone I have worked with. So, I want to call it a very positive vertical growth.

2. Why did you choose to do Posham Pa?

I chose Posham Pa because I loved the script and I wanted to work with the Director.

3. How challenging was it playing Shikha Deshpande?

It was very challenging because I have never met anybody like that and to play someone who is so anti-law, who has done such negative activities, it is very difficult.

4. How did you manage to get into her skin?

It’s basically everything that I have read on criminal psychology, whatever crime films I have seen and news pieces I have read, all notes from my Director, Writer and my imagination has been put to test with this character.

5. With all the cold-blooded killings, the movie is quite dark. Did it affect you in any way?

It did, I was crying a lot while filming, I have cried a lot and I have broken down on the sets a few times because I couldn’t believe people could do that. 

6. How did you disengage yourself from the character after filming the movie?

Fortunately, the film’s shooting was only for 19 days. So, it was 30 days of help with that one day of dubbing and after the 20 days, I completely let go off it.

7. How was it sharing the screen with Mahie Gill and Sayani Gupta?

It was very good. They have done some great work in the past and I was excited to work with Imaad, Mahie and Sayani.

8. Posham Pa is a game that children play so, have you ever played that game in your childhood?

Posham Pa I never played but I have played oranges and lemons which is the English version of Posham Pa.
