Actress and global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas has reacted to the untimely death of actress Shefali Jariwala, expressing disbelief and grief over the loss. Shefali, who passed away on June 27 in Mumbai, reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 42.
Priyanka took to Instagram on Sunday to pay tribute. Sharing a photo of Shefali on her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “So shook. She was too young. Sending condolences to Parag and the family.”

The two had briefly worked together in the 2004 romantic comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, starring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. Shefali had a cameo appearance in the film, which remains one of the early films in Priyanka’s Bollywood career. Though they didn’t share many scenes, Shefali’s presence in the film is remembered for her distinct on-screen energy.
Shefali Jariwala rose to fame in the early 2000s with the music video Kaanta Laga, which became an instant pop culture sensation. Often referred to as the “Kaanta Laga Girl,” she became a household name overnight. Her bold style and confident screen presence stood out at a time when indie music videos were booming in India.
Beyond music and films, Shefali later ventured into television and reality shows. She was a contestant on Bigg Boss 13, where she reintroduced herself to a new generation of viewers and received appreciation for her straightforward and dignified presence. She was also part of Nach Baliye 5 with her husband, actor Parag Tyagi.
News of her sudden demise has left the industry and fans in shock. She reportedly collapsed at her Mumbai residence and was declared dead at the hospital. A post-mortem was conducted, and preliminary reports confirmed a cardiac arrest.
As messages pour in from fans, friends, and colleagues, Priyanka’s note echoes what many feel — that Shefali left far too soon, leaving behind memories of a vibrant career and a life that touched many.
