Actress Poonam Jangra has taken on a new and unique role in the upcoming show Tumm Se Tumm Tak, produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah under Studio LSD. She plays the character Rajni, which she says is very different from the roles she has done before.
Coming from a small town in Haryana, Poonam shared that her real-life experiences helped her understand this character better. “I grew up seeing the daily struggles of lower-middle-class families, and those memories helped me prepare for this role. Playing Rajni challenged me in a new way. It made me tap into emotions I hadn’t explored before,” she said.
Unlike her earlier roles, which were mostly positive and simple, Rajni is more complex. “Rajni isn’t just a good or bad character—she has shades of both. That’s what made her interesting but also tough to play,” Poonam added.
Describing Rajni further, she said the character is like the typical neighbor we all have a love-hate relationship with. “She is both helpful and annoying in Pushpa’s life. She can be the person who supports you, but also the one who criticizes you. She’s one of those friends who can get on your nerves but is also impossible to live without,” Poonam explained.
She also mentioned that this character is very different from the soft, kind roles she usually plays. “Rajni has many sides. She can be hopeful but also doubtful. That makes her more realistic and human,” she said.
Poonam believes that viewers will see themselves or someone they know in Rajni. “She is someone everyone will relate to. She could remind you of a bua (aunt), a chachi (aunt-in-law), a neighbor, or even a friend. Rajni feels like someone you’ve met in real life. Her habits, her talkative nature, and her strong opinions are very familiar,” she added.
This role, Poonam feels, gave her a chance to grow as an actor. “It’s not just about playing a part—it’s about understanding the emotions, the struggles, and the reality behind it. Rajni gave me that chance,” she said.
With Tumm Se Tumm Tak, Poonam hopes to connect with the audience in a new way, bringing a touch of everyday realism to the screen through her role.
