Ponmagal Vandhal Gets a Massive Response, Becomes the First Success Story for Direct-to-OTT Release

Setting the trend with its release on 29th May, Ponmagal Vandhal has become the first ever success story for direct-to-OTT release for any film. The film released on Amazon Prime Video recently and is receiving appreciation from all across for its strong narrative of a courtroom drama. Ponmagal Vandhal is the first Tamil film to have a global OTT release on Amazon Prime Videos, which was earlier set for a theatrical release.

Marking another momentous success ahead of its release on Amazon Prime Video, the makers of the film hosted the first ever digital premiere of their film on 28th May, 2020. Actors, directors and other prominent personalities from Southern industry were a part of the screening and the response was phenomenal. The film is getting praises from all across- critics, legal communities as well as the audience. 

Ponmagal Vandhal brought the many firsts along. First ever for any South or mainstream cinema, this film has 5 directors playing lead roles i.e. Parthiban, K.Bhagyaraj, Thyagarajan, Pratap Poten and Pandiarajan as well. Also, the trailer itself had broken records ahead of its release. Touted as one of the biggest ever TV trailer roadblock, a potential base of estimated 14 million viewers watched the trailer at once on their television during the primetime across Southern states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. 

In addition to this, the trailer of PonMagal Vandhal also received an overwhelming response on the official YouTube page of Amazon Prime Video India with over 6 Million views in the first 24 hours after its launch. Produced by 2D Entertainment, the legal drama features a power-packed performance by Jyotika who essays the character of a lawyer. 

PonMagal Vandhal is a Jyotika and Suriya Production under their banner 2D Entertainment. The producer is Suriya Sivakumar and the film is directed by JJ Fredrick. Being the first Tamil film to premiere worldwide directly on Amazon Prime Video, PonMagal Vandhal is available exclusively for Prime members to stream from May 29 in more than 200 countries and territories.
