Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away earlier in the morning today at the age of 92. As of now, her mortal remains are being taken to Shivaji Park for people to pay homage. While we know that CM Uddhav Thackeray's son Aditya Thackeray is currently at Shivaji Park overseeing the preparation for the last rites and a recent report suggests that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be arriving in Mumbai at 4:15 pm in Mumbai to pay his tributes to the Nightingale of India. A two-day national mourning has been announced by the Government on India and flags on all Government buildings across India will fly at half mast. The late singer will be accorded a State Funeral.
As known, she was admitted to the hospital after being tested positive for the novel Coronavirus earlier in January. She was on the ventilator for weeks but then on January 28, she was taken off the ventilator as she showed signs of improvement. Unfortunately, again her health condition has deteriorated, and she has been put back on the ventilator under the close observation of the doctors.
Dr Pratit Samdani, who was treating her at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, told ANI, "It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post COVID19."
An array of celebrities already arrived at the singer's residence to pay their respects while now, a few others are expected to arrive at Shivaji Park as well.
