Celebrating the centenary birth anniversary of India’s original showman, the legendary Raj Kapoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the cinematic icon by taking to X (formerly Twitter).
Modi ji praised Raj Kapoor's enduring influence on Indian and worldwide cinema. He admired Kapoor's timeless characters that still captivate audiences after many years and hailed him as a genuine cultural envoy who showcased India's cultural richness through his craft.
The sincere homage showcased the deep influence Raj Kapoor wielded on the realms of cinema and culture.
Last week, the Kapoor family, comprising Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and others, gathered to meet the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi. They presented a unique invitation to celebrate Raj Kapoor's 100th birth anniversary. The family is honoring the renowned filmmaker's legacy with a countrywide screening of his most iconic movies.
The RK Film Festival kicked off in Mumbai on Friday, December 13, commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of the iconic Raj Kapoor. In honor of his enduring cinematic heritage, a three-day festival has been arranged, featuring a lineup of his most celebrated movies.
The festival will feature Raj Kapoor’s most celebrated works, spanning almost four decades including including – Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973) and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985).
