"Pehredaar Piya Ki grabbed more eyeballs because of the controversies surrounding it..."

Sony TV's most controversial show Pehredaar Piya Ki, was abruptly taken off the screens because of the content not being received well by the Rajput community. However, the makers soon came back with a sequel of sorts titled Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya, where Ratan was seen as a 21-year-old grown up man.

Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya now revolves around the developing romance between Diya played by Tejasswi Prakash and Ratan played by Rohit Suchanti.

We got chatty with Tejasswi and quizzed her a little about Pehredaar... and Rishta Likhenge...

The response for Rishta Likhenge... has been way more lukewarm in comparison to Pehredaar Piya Ki. What do you want to say about it?

I don't feel so. Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya is getting a good response in comparison to other running shows on Sony. People greet me with a great feedback for the show in fact. Even many have praised the show on different occasions. But yes, when we compare it with Pehredaar Piya Ki, the show gained more eyeballs because of controversies. It became one of the most discussed topics.

You took up Pehredaar because of its out-of-the-box concept. But then Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya happened and there is nothing really divergent happening in the show. Are you happy with the way things are proceeding?

It is out-of-the-box as I feel the show has me as a hero in it. I'm playing a very strong character. It does have a new concept and I personally feel that my character describes how strong women are. And I'm happy with the way Rishta Likhenge... is proceeding.

Do people still question you and draw parallels between Pehredaar Piya Ki and Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya?

Not really, but it does happen sometimes. Everyone has their personal opinion. For me, I would like to say that I enjoyed my work then and I am enjoying it now as well.

Are you relieved that the entire Pehredaar... controversy is over?

Yes. Who does not love peace? But I still feel that the controversies were not required.
