Pankaj Tripathi embarks on a suicide mission in 'Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga' trailer

The trailer for Srijit Mukherji's highly anticipated film Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga has been unveiled, and it is rather fascinating. The film is premised on true events and stars Pankaj Tripathi and Sayani Gupta in the key roles.

Sherdil was spurred by a strange tradition that took place near the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, in which villagers would abandon their elderly relatives so that tigers might feed on them and the family would be compensated by the administration.

Pankaj Tripathi embarks on a suicide mission in the 2-minute-22-second trailer, as he prepares to be mauled by a tiger in exchange for recompense. Sayani Gupta plays his spouse, who does everything she can to keep him from leaving. 

As Gangaram in Sherdil, Pankaj Tripathi will conquer your heart. The actor portrays a villager who is on a quest to obtain recompense from the government. He chooses to depart the community for the same reason and is attacked by a tiger. Things, however, do not go according to plan, and Pankaj is detained for animal poaching.

For the uninitiated, KK, a well-known vocalist, passed away on May 31. His most recent song, however, has yet to be released which is from Sherdil, and KK recorded it in April of this year.

Speaking to IndiaToday.in, Srijit shared his experience about the first time he met KK and the unreleased track from his film. He said,

“The song is very special. It’s written by Gulzar saab and sung by KK. And it is possibly going to be his last song for a film at least.”

The film is slated to hit the big screens on 24th June.
