Shahid Kapoor is making it to the headlines for his upcoming film, Jersey. Now, the makers have found a new member for its cast and its none other than his father Pankaj Kapoor. In the film, Pankaj is reported to play the character of Shahid’s mentor.
The real-life father and son duo share a great bond and it will be fun to see their presence.
Jersey is a Hindi remake of a Telegu film which goes by the same name and it will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original film. The original film revolves around Arjun and his struggles to make it big in the Indian cricket.
The actor was quoted by Mid-Day saying,
I am very excited to be part of the film. Jersey is a very strong story and is driven by emotions. Working with Shahid has always been very interesting and I have always admired his ability to portray emotions beautifully.- Pankaj Kapoor
Director Tinnanuri is excited to work with the 65-year-old actor and mentioned that he is thrilled.

The remake will also see Mrunal Thakur and the shoot will kick off its next schedule next week in Chandigarh.
On the work front, Shahid was last seen in Kabir Singh. The film made a lot of noise as it grabbed the audience's attention. Even though the film received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience, Kabir Singh has a worldwide gross collection of ?379.02 crore as reported by Box-office India.
