'Orange Is the New Black' Final Season Gets A Premiere Date; Look Revealed

Remember when Netflix was still in the nascent stages of being a streaming service with some good shows? Well. Those were the times when the now-billion dollars streaming platform had a few good shows up its sleeve which had not quite hit the buzz yet. Time and again, there are two shows that are credited with the service's initial rise to popularity and they are House Of Cards and Orange Is The New Black.

Justifying the cliche about 'all good things must come to an end', after House Of Cards came to an end last year, the viewers were informed a few months ago that Orange Is the New Black is also coming to an end this year with its final season.

That wait is also over as the first look of Season 6 of the Jenji Kohan prison dramedy was revealed also unveiling its premiere date. The final season will have 13 episodes and it will begin streaming on July 26 on Netflix. The glimpse at Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) on the outside can already get you intrigued right away. For the uninitiated, the game-changing twist in the previous season where Piper was set free on early release thanks to a prison-privatization oversight had people going bonkers.

In the final season description from Netflix, the ladies of Litchfield will be coming to terms with the fact that prison has changed them forever. Taystee’s (Danielle Brooks) friendship with Cindy (Adrienne C. Moore) still hangs in the balance as her life sentence looms, Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and her kitchen staff are confronted by the hard truth of [the corporation that owns Litchfield] Polycon’s newest profit stream, while others chase drugs or dreams and grapple with the reality of their place in this world.

When production wrapped in February, the cast and crew took to social media to honor the show from the final days on set.
