Not a smooth ride for Global Star Priyanka Chopra; says she was yelled at by directors, was thrown out of movies

Priyanka Chopra has successfully managed to mark her spot not only in the Indian Cinema but also in Hollywood. Her impeccable acting combined with her confident personality helped her win the hearts of the audience and become a crowd favorite. She delivered a number of hit movies like Fashion, Aitraaz, Mary Kom, Barfi, Bajirao Mastaani to name a few, and later went ahead to cast her magic in H’wood with hits like thriller series Quantico, Baywatch and Isn’t It Romantic. However, it wasn’t a smooth ride for the Miss World turned Global Star and had to fight hard to achieve the righteous position she is in today.

In a recent interview with Vogue India for their September issue, Priyanka opened up about her struggles and the displeasing behavior she had to face from the industry during the initial days of her career. 

Priyanka said, “I didn’t know anything or anyone. I was yelled at by directors, I was thrown into movies, I was thrown out of movies,” and revealed that the wise words of her late father Dr. Ashok Chopra helped her to get through her tough days. “The more you talk, the less you will listen and the less you will learn’...I taught myself confidence. I learnt it’s what you do after failure that makes you a success,” she further added.

Talking of her Bollywood course, PeeCee was last seen in Prakash Jha’s Jai Gangaajal in 2016 and is returning back to the silver screen after a gap of 3 years with Shonali Bose’s The Sky is Pink.

She was recently seen at the Toronto International Film Festival with the director of her upcoming film, where they answered questions regarding the film and about Priyanka’s husband Nick Jonas. At the event, Shonali also revealed how Nick got emotional when he saw his darling wife performing an intense scene. 

Shonali mentioned that they had invited Nick to the film’s set to celebrate the last day of the shoot. “But he came a little early and we were out in the dark and she was doing a very, very intense scene and I heard a sniff and I suddenly turned and there was Nick standing next to me and he was just crying to see her be emotional. It was just the sweetest thing,” Bose said. To this, Priyanka added, “She goes, you made your husband cry, this is a great scene. It was really cute.”

The Sky Is Pink is a love story of a couple, Aditi and Niren Chaudhary - who lose their daughter to pulmonary fibrosis, a serious immune disease. Besides Priyanka, the film also stars Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on October 11.
