The investigation into extortion allegations in the drugs-on-cruise case, in which Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested, has been put on hold for the time being. According to Mumbai Police, no case has been filed and no evidence has been discovered in the matter.

“Investigation of alleged extortion matters in connection with drugs on the cruise case halted until the next order. Mumbai Police had constituted SET (Special Enquiry Team) to investigate and had questioned around 20 people. No case registered so far as no evidence found yet," ANI quoted the Mumbai Police. This investigation was launched after an independent witness in the drugs case, Prabhakar Sail, claimed that some NCB officials, including Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede, demanded an extortion of Rs 25 crore in exchange for releasing Aryan Khan, the son of actor Shah Rukh Khan. Gyaneshwar Singh, the NCB's Deputy Director General, was in charge of the vigilance investigation.

The NCB arrested Aryan Khan on October 2 after a drugs bust at a cruise party he was attending. While granting him bail on October 28, the HC imposed a condition that he appear every Friday at the Narcotics Control Bureau's South Mumbai office to mark his presence. Aryan Khan was recently exempted from his weekly appearance before the NCB's office by the Bombay High Court. A single bench of Justice N W Sambre ruled that the condition imposed on Aryan Khan when he was granted bail, that he must appear before the NCB office every Friday, has been modified.
