Preetika Rao rose to fame with Colors’ show ‘Beintehaa’. She played the lead character of Aaliya in the show. Post ‘Beintehaa’, the actress was seen in Star Plus show ‘Love Ka Hai Intezar’. After her second show, Rao hasn’t been regular with projects on TV or web.
In a candid chat with India Forums, Preetika Rao spoke at length about why she is being away from TV. The actress said, “When I entered Indian Television quitting South Films ... Mr. Anil Kapoor was shooting for 24 on Colors and Amitabh ji was shooting for ‘Yudh’ on Star Plus and I was expecting classier shows and limited series like Pakistani shows ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ and ‘Humsafar’ which were largely inspired by Bollywood in their execution and style! - But when ‘Naagin’ and the Telugu movie ‘Magadheera’ became a super-hit, suddenly large scale mythological shows and animated fictions became every production-house’s look-out and all I was being offered was either a mythological show on an Indian God or I was being approached to play a snake-woman - both of which I cannot see myself being a part of as an actor".
She added, “So, I only stuck to modelling, events and short films where there was no skin-show or kissing as I am pretty old school and conservative when it comes to body-show on screen. My last Television show with producer Siddharth Malhotra ‘Love Ka Hai Intezaar’ was again a very grand and classy show with a great story-line and I don't see myself doing Television again unless I get classy concepts like these. Reality shows are out of question because no amount of money and fame can make me lose my privacy which is sacred to me”.
