Actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi found a sharp way to respond to Donald Trump’s recent statement about India-Pakistan relations—by linking it to Mumbai’s Gokhale Bridge.

In a social media post, Dwivedi mocked Trump’s controversial claim that he was responsible for ending hostilities between India and Pakistan. Mimicking Trump’s speech style, the actor wrote a mock announcement celebrating the reopening of the Gokhale flyover in Andheri, claiming it happened after “a long night of talks with BMC.”

The post read:

“After a long night of talks with BMC, I am pleased to announce that they have agreed to open the Andheri Gokhale flyover. Congratulations to the people living in East and West Andheri. Jai Maharashtra!”

Trump’s original statement, in which he claimed to have ended the India-Pakistan war, had already drawn widespread reactions online. Dwivedi’s post added a local spin to the discussion, turning a global political boast into a relatable Mumbai moment. His post was widely shared, drawing amusement from users who saw the parody as a timely response.

Beyond the humor, the post also commented on political posturing. By replacing a ceasefire between nations with the reopening of a bridge, Dwivedi underlined the nature of overstatements often seen in global politics.

The Gokhale Bridge, which connects Andheri East and West, had been shut down in November 2022 after a structural audit revealed major corrosion. A partial collapse in 2018 had already raised safety concerns. After over two years of reconstruction, the bridge reopened on May 11, 2025.

Dwivedi, known for engaging with topical issues, often uses satire to participate in larger conversations. This instance was no different—he used a current event to reflect on a larger trend in political rhetoric.

Whether seen as a punchline or a critique, Dwivedi’s post made its point—without saying too much.
