Mumbai, May 24 (IANS) NDTV Lumiere, which aims to premiere the best of world cinema in Indian theatres, will make its multiplex debut with the Spanish horror thriller 'Orphanage' ('El Orfanato') May 30.

'The movie has already won 30 international awards. We are happy to bring it to India in keeping with our objectives of bringing the highest value of cinema to Indian audiences,' Sunil Doshi, director NDTV Lumiere, told IANS Saturday.

A joint venture of NDTV, Manmohan Shetty and Doshi, it promises to provide Indian movie buffs access to top quality world movies across different platforms such as home video, a 24 hour TV channel, pay-per-view across DTH platforms and internet downloads.

Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and scripted by Sergio G. Sanchez, the film is about a woman who brings her family back to her childhood home to open an orphanage for handicapped children and how she finds the house to be haunted.

The award winning film will be premiered in PVR multiplex chains simultaneously in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Spain's official entry for the 80th Academy Awards, 'Orphanage' was released theatrically in the US early this year.
