Nawazuddin Siddiqui turns a year older today but it looks like it’s not a very happy birthday for him. His wife Aaliya took the Internet by storm after she announced that she does not want the marriage any more and has filed for divorce. Citing many reasons behind her decision to separate, Aaliya said she wants the sole custody of their two kids.

Recently, Nawazuddin along with his mother Mehroonisa Siddiqui and a few family members travelled to their hometown Budhana, Uttar Pradesh, from Mumbai. The family got tested for COVID-19 and after the results came negative,  all of them went under a 14-day quarantine.

The actor’s brother and director Shamas N Siddiqui stated: “Ammi ki haalat kharaab ho rahi thi. And Nawaz bhai wanted to fulfil her wish. They reached there on may 11. No one knew about this earlier. After reaching home, they got their Covid-19 test done, and thankfully results came negative.”

Shamas said that Nawaz wanted to fulfil mother’s wish and rubbished all such reports that claimed Nawazuddin travelled home to celebrate Eid. He also tweeted a copy of the travel permission they took from Mumbai police.

Nawazuddin too had taken to social media to clarify the same. “Due to the recent loss of my younger sister, my mother who is 71yrs old got anxiety attack twice. We have followed all the guidelines given by the State Government.  We are #HomeQuarantined at our hometown Budhana. Please #StaySafe #StayHome” read his tweet.

The actor’s sister Syama Tamshi Siddiqui had been battling cancer since she was 18 and she died last year in December at the age of 26. Their mother was shattered with the loss and wanted to visit home in UP.

“Ammi used to take care of our sister (Syama Tamshi Siddiqui). She couldn’t accept her death and has not been keeping well. She recently started having anxiety attacks and has been requesting us to take her to Budhana. We couldn’t go earlier because of the lockdown,” said the actor’s brother, Shamas.

Furthermore, Shamas mentioned that Nawazuddin will not be celebrating Eid this year. “Hamaara koi apna hume chhod ke chala gaya hai, hum kaise Eid manaa sakte hain?” he says.

“He’s very worried about Ammi’s health. Though she’s doing better now, bhai has no plans of coming back to Mumbai anytime soon. He’ll be back only when shootings resume.

“Our family in Budhana also needs him. He wanted to be with our siblings who stay there but wasn’t getting the time earlier. Then for the last two months, we all were stuck at home” adds Shamas.

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin has not reacted to wife Aaliya’s divorce plea.
