Navin Prabhakar: Stand-up comedy is my bread and butter!

While he is slowly branching out as an actor as well, comedian Navin Prabhakar says that, at this point in his career, stand up comedy still holds a lot of significance. The actor-comedian says that he has not reached that stage as an actor where he can demand a hefty remuneration. 

But yes , to eccept or not to eccept the projects is still a priority.

“Being a Bollywood actor, you have to keep your patience to get a good project. It's not that you entered Mumbai and you reached the producer's top list or the director’s choice. It's all about creating your own vision of an actor. It's all about your acting knowledge meeting your experience on sets, converting the real opportunities. Whenever I get a chance to speak in public about tickets to Bollywood, I always say if you are not a good human being you cannot be a great actor. Your kindness and your patience keep you growing day by day as an actor as much as you give look tests and auditions, you become more experienced in dealing with these characteristics. I thank all my casting directors who always called me for new roles and new characters,” he says.

He adds, “Acting is my priority nowadays and standup is my bread butter, my first love. Kyuki apna choolha wahi chalata hai acting mein paisa demand karne ka waqt bahot jald aa raha hai.”

He adds that, for him, it’s all about the learning curve. “I believe in learning new things. When I got the first call after Laughter Challenge, I took up the film. On the set of that project, I experienced the new atmosphere, the new style of working, and understood the effort that goes in to create something new and original. I loved the process. Jab ek baar chehre par makeup lag gaya .. toh woh creativity ka nasha aapko chain se Sone nahi deta. I still watch two films every day without fail! The learning process never ends for me,” he says. 

Navin wishes to inspire people through his work and journey. “Being an actor, if I am inspiring people or cinema lovers in any way, that is an achievement in my life. I have worked in all mediums but I loved to perform on stage in front of a live audience. This is because in every medium you work and you have to wait for the audience's liking and appreciation after a few months or weeks but at live shows, the audience gives you a quick response. And you get to know if it is working or not. That's the beauty of the live Laughter shows,” he says.
