Namish Taneja, who is currently playing one of the leads in Colors' popular show Swaragini turned pandit at his home for performing the Ganpati pooja.
Sharing an incident, he said, "We bring Ganpati every year at our home, and we have a permanent Pandit ji, who performs pooja every year. This time, he ditched us at the eleventh hour and went somewhere else. After lots of requests, he told us that he will be sending someone else. But when he started the pooja, I realized something fishy was going on. Instead of chanting loudly, he was murmuring the mantras.
When we requested him that he is not audible, he gave a vague reason. He said, 'a Pandit shouldn't chant Beej mantra's loudly if he does than mantras will lose its significance.' I couldn't digest what he said, nevertheless, I kept quiet since I didn't want to disrespect Bappa by interrupting the Pooja. I lost my patience when he intermingled the lines of aarti. I was fuming in anger, as I hadn't expected this to happen. I then asked the Pandit to leave the house after giving him Dakshina."
The actor, who earlier did 'Ekk Nayi Pehchaan' was not satisfied with the Pooja, so he told his mom that he wants to do everything once again. His mother was initially reluctant, but then she gave him a nod after which Namish performed the pooja himself.
"I took help from the internet and saw so many videos on how to perform Ganpati pooja and do 'pran pratishtha' and downloaded the lyrics of mantra's. After that, I performed the pooja myself. I might have made so many mistakes while doing the Pooja, I believe Bappa will ignore my mistakes considering that I am naive," says Namish.
