Naamkarann is my birthday gift for the year: Gulfam Khan

Seasoned actress Gulfam Khan is currently seen in a very powerful character in Mahesh Bhatt's Naamkarann. Gulfam's character is that of Nanno, Ayesha/Asha (Barkha Bisht) mother in the show. Incidentally, Gulfam got this role on her birthday, this year, which falls on the 6th of June. 

She says,"I was at Lonavala with my husband celebrating my birthday when I got the role. I was asked for an audition and since I was in Lonavala, the best I could do was shoot an audition from my smartphone and my husband helped me to do that. He was the one who shot my audition video and this was how I got Nanno's character." 

Elaborating more about her role, Gulfam tells us, "I have a very glam look in the show. She is a lady who smokes and drinks too and is always very decked up. Nanno, as I'm called, shares a fantastic relationship with her daughter and grand-daughter, Avni. With her daughter, she shares a very unconventional relationship where sometimes, the roles seem to reverse and Asha is more of a mother figure to her ( Nanno).

Gulfam also shared a special feedback that she got for her role. And it was from none other than the show creator Mahesh Bhatt. "I was overwhelmed when one day I got a call from Mahesh Bhatt and he told me that he enjoys watching Barkha and my scenes. He also congratulated me for our on-screen chemistry. This coming from him,is a great feeling, and I wish to get this kind of feedback in future too."

Naamkarann, has been on air for a short duration is already getting rave responses for it's bold but meaningful content. It stars Reema Lagoo, Viraf Phiroz Patel and Barkha Bisht Sengupta and child artist Arsheen Naamdar in the lead roles.
