Mimi Trailer: Kriti Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi’s surrogacy drama is funny & emotional in one

On Tuesday, Kriti Sanon took to social media to release the trailer of her much awaited film ‘Mimi’. The surrogacy drama marks her reunion with Luka Chuppi director Laxman Utekar and co-star Pankaj Tripathi.

In the trailer, Pankaj Tripathi persuades Kriti aka Mimi to turn surrogate mother for an American couple in return of 20 lakh rupees. What happens next is a sequence of complicated events and things go haywire when the couple no longer wants the child and Mimi is asked to get an abortion. 

The trailer features a pleasant camaraderie between Pankaj Tripathi and Kriti Sanon, with several punches of laughter. Besides, the film is also high on emotions and just by the looks of it, Mimi promises to be the actress’ finest performance till date. The film also stars Sai Tamhankar in a key role.

Mimi is a remake of the National Award-winning 2011 Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy!. The film features Kriti Sanon in the lead role of a surrogate mother, alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar. 

Directed by by Laxman Utekar, written by Rohan Shankar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Mimi also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak in pivotal roles.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films, Mimi is scheduled for a direct-to-digital release on Netflix and Jio Cinemas on July 30, 2021.
