In a tragic accident near the Poisar Metro station in Mumbai's Kandivali, one labourer was killed and another severely injured after being hit by Marathi actress Urmila Kothare's car, according to the police. The actress and her driver also sustained injuries in the incident.

Police officials revealed that the accident occurred shortly after midnight as Urmila Kothare was returning from work. "The actor and her driver were also injured in the accident. But they were saved as the airbags opened at the right time," said an official at the Samta Nagar police station.

The car, reportedly traveling at high speed, veered out of control and struck two metro workers engaged in construction under the Poisar Metro station. "One worker died on the spot, while the other was seriously injured," the police told ABP Majha. The deceased worker's identity has not been disclosed.

Authorities have registered a case against the driver at the Samta Nagar police station and have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The vehicle was severely damaged, but the airbags are credited with preventing more serious injuries to Kothare and her driver.

Urmila Kothare, a prominent name in Marathi cinema, is known for her roles in films such as Duniyadaari, Shubhmangal Saavdhan, and Ti Sadhya Kay Karte. Recently, she returned to television after 12 years with the Star Pravah show Tujech Mi Geet Gaat Ahe.

Her husband, actor and director Addinath Kothare, who is the son of veteran filmmaker Mahesh Kothare, has yet to comment publicly on the incident.

Fans and well-wishers have expressed concern for the actress's recovery, while condolences have poured in for the family of the deceased worker. The police continue to investigate the accident, with further details about the injuries sustained by Kothare and her driver expected to emerge.
