'Mahabharat' fame Rohit Bharadwaj opens up on separating from his wife

For actor Rohit Bharadwaj, life has been rather difficult in the past few years. When it comes to working, he has been missing from TV for a while now but it is his personal life that has been topsy-turvy. On one hand, he has been dealing with issues in his marriage of 16 years, and last year in February 2021, he lost his mother as well.

Now, he is currently dealing with the divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Poonam Bharadwaj. It was in 2017 when things got worse after he returned from Indonesia. Talking about it with ETimes TV, Bharadwaj said, 

“I am staying alone for the last four-five years. There were differences from the beginning, which kept escalating, especially after I returned from Indonesia. I tried to sort things out with my wife, but couldn’t save the marriage. It was marred by differences of opinion and compatibility issues. The divorce is in the process and should be through in two months.”

Talking about losing his mother, he says, “She suffered a cardiac arrest and I am still recovering from the loss. I’ve been shuffling between Mumbai and Delhi to spend time with my father, who is now all alone.”

The couple has a 10-year old daughter and since Poonam left, Rohit hasn't seen her daughter as well. He talked about that saying that he hasn't seen her daughter in two years. Owing to this, he went into an emotional turmoil and thus went into a shell.

He also suffered professional setbacks during this period as he said, “I came back from Indonesia and produced a web series, which didn’t do well. I also tried my luck in films and web series, as I wanted to explore new mediums. In the process, I declined a few TV shows. But the pandemic put everything on hold. I hope that things will fall into place soon.”

We hope the same for the actor.
