Actor Nikhil Khurana, who was seen in Made in Heaven 2 and is set to debut in the film "Sanna" with Radhika Madan under the direction of National Award Winner Sudhanshu Saria, says that he is not very active on social media. He says that there are many reasons for that, one being that it distracts people from his work.

“I have been focused on understanding the nuances and the art and science of acting. I am completely in love with what I do, and it feels like I have had this romantic affair going on since childhood with an invisible force i.e acting. I keep getting asked why I am not so active on social media. Honestly, it's because, firstly, I genuinely want to stay focused on my subject (acting) and learn as much as I can, and even though social media is a great platform to reach people, I feel that it’s become more of a bane than a boom from my perspective. It’s a distraction if you want to become great in a certain subject, be it arts or science,” he says.

He adds, “The kind of culture that's being promoted on social media is that you don't have enough in your life, and whatever you have is less and hence you need to push and become more ambitious and chase more and more and more. Essentially your phone is not the coolest phone, there is always a better, bigger car out there, there is always a better person out there for you, your followers are not enough etc. So basically, social media is constantly trying to influence you and tell you that your life has a ‘lack’ and hence you should not feel content with what you have. Feeling empty and lonely is a truth and a part of human nature, and marketers understand that about human psychology, and that's why they are trying to sell this false hope that if you live like this or buy this or go to this luxury villa, then you will feel complete, and I know that it's far away from the truth. Truly speaking, it's like a black hole where you can keep chasing this ‘more’ culture, but you are never truly happy. I have seen and met with a lot of famous people who promote this grand indulgence in life where they have the best of everything, and yet in their personal lives, I don't see them happy.”

He says that acting has taught him a lot. “One thing I learnt from acting is that ‘less is more’ and it doesn't just apply in acting but in every aspect of life. The ‘more culture’ promotes that in order to realise your true power, you need to become rich and if you are rich, you are powerful, which is true and I agree. But the problem is that 90 percent of the people are not rich so they will never feel powerful in their life. The answer was simple i.e become a minimalist. Figure out your minimum to lead your daily life and stick to it, you will gain your power. If you can be happy with the minimum then you will truly gain your power back, you will gain your voice and your individuality. When you are content with the minimum, then you can focus on loving your work, family and friends and when you are in love then you attract abundance financially, physically, spiritually and mentally. There will be no lack in your life but only abundance. So, staying away from social media became super important to me. I have always dreamt of being on the big screen and I am moving forward, slowly but surely. I always knew that I wanted to be famous for my work and not work to become famous.”

He adds, “Even though I am doing and following what my heart says, life is still a mystery. Can I realise my ultimate dream, my ultimate vision? Let's find out!”
