Love stories can appeal to all age groups if they are fresh: Saurabh Tewari

Producer Saurabh Tewari, who has won audience' heart with his popular shows like Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, Rangrasiya, Do Dil Ek Jaan, etc. is all set to bring spread the magic of romance once again on the small screen with its upcoming show on Star Plus.

Saurabh Tewari's upcoming show on Star Plus - Phir Bhi Na Maane..Badtameez Dil is going to be a romantic love tale. TellyBuzz spoke to Saurabh to know more about the idea behind the show, about the castings and much more.

Tell us a big about the concept of the show.

It's a love story based in two time frames over the period of 12 years. We are trying to narrate a story that has started in the year 2007 and running in the year 2015. It's the story that will show that how people evolved and got matured with the passage of time and how their decisions that they made in the past is affecting this present.

How did it all happen?

We were having a discussion with the channel and the channel wanted a different kind of love story that should appeal to the audience of all age groups making sure that it should not just become a youth centric show. We bring forth a story that starts from their early age and goes till they become 28-30. When we started developing the track, new tracks started getting unfold and new characters starts adding in. So, the show started to shape up.

Why a Musical' romantic saga?

Most of the times, we have seen the music plays an important part in a love story. Original music is never created on a TV show which is based on music. We generally use music from films. In our story, our hero is a Rockstar so we thought that if he will sing songs from movies holding a guitar, then it won't work well. He should sing his own songs. So, we started composing original songs for that. It started from one song and now we keep on composing. All the songs on the show are original. Darshan Raval has given voice to Pearl (Pearl V Puri) and Suyyash (Suyyash Rai) has sung in his own voice. Pearl has a very good voice. In future, he might be seen singing on the show but we wanted a particular kind of voice for his character.

There are four leads on the show. How will their love story going to unfold on the show?

The love story exists in the characters of Pearl and Asmita (Asmita Sood) on the show. The character of Suyyash is very important on the show. He will carry forward the story in a very particular way. He is not a part of any love triangle or not emotionally involved with Asmita's character.

What is going to be the element that will attract all age groups towards the show?

If a love story will be narrated in a very engaging way with a fresh perspective then it appeals to all age groups. If your love story is correct then people of all age groups will watch it.

This time you have chosen new faces over popular ones. What was the reason?

It was a particular demand of the show. If we would have cast known faces so the story wouldn't have looked so fresh. It's very important for us to cast new faces and build them. They shouldn't have any expectations from the audience as well as any kind of baggage. It was our idea to have new faces, new story and a new kind of set for the show.

What is the biggest challenge for you?

The time slot of 8:30 is a challenge for us as it's the toughest slot. So many good shows are doing well on this time slot. We were also been at this time slot before so I believe that history repeats! 

Tell us something about your upcoming ventures.

Right now our entire focus is on this show. Till September, we are not starting anything and from December onwards, we are venturing into movies. We have a new project in pipeline but its too early to talk about it.
