Liam Payne reveals the time from 1D when it became toxic for him, punctuated by alcohol abuse and more

One Direction, the band that comprised of five superbly talented young boys became the biggest boyband of this generation. For those unaware, it was on The X Factor UK when Simon Cowell, one of the judges on the show, who put five talented individuals namely Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik in a group together and that's how their band, 'One Direction' was formed. The boys went on to captivate people's heart with their songs and in turn, received a massive fan following from around the globe. Their albums and hit singles like What Make You Beautiful and Story of My Life went on to become chartbusters.

The boys became famous in no time and got to taste the best of success. While it looked like a bed of roses from the outside, there were a lot of downside to their profession as well.

Recalling his time in One Direction, Liam Payne, one of the band member, revealed to Men's Health Australia, that in spite of his closeness with the other four members, he remembers his 1D days as a lonely time, punctuated by alcohol abuse. Liam also stated that after doing hundreds and hundreds of concerts with the same 22 songs every single time, you have to go out there and perform even if you're not in a happy state of mind. Payne further revealed, "It’s almost like putting the Disney costume on before you step up on stage and underneath the Disney costume, I was pissed quite a lot of the time because there was no other way to get your head around what was going on."

"I mean it was fun. We had an absolute blast but there were certain parts of it where it just got a little bit toxic," Liam added.

Meanwhile, Liam is currently focusing on completing his debut solo album. The singer has already released hit singles like Strip That Down, Familiar, For You and Get Low.
