The raging fires at Amazon Rainforests have wreaked havoc on earth!
While many actors have voiced out to raise awareness about the devastating tragedy at the rainforests, Leonardo DiCaprio has not only joined the chorus but also donated a whopping amount.
You might have seen him constantly talking about climate change but in a way the actor has decided to keep the hope (to save the earth) intact by doing his part. The Oscar winner's environmental foundation, ‘Earth Alliance’, has launched the Amazon Forest Fund.
The damage is done and while a part of the Amazon rainforest burned down to ashes, mother earth is on the brink of devastation and the breaking point is approaching rapidly. However, some individuals manage to work at ground level and make sure, the hope is still alive.
Leo is donating money to help the combatants fighting the raging wildfires irreparably devastating the Amazon.
The reports in ET stated: The foundation pledged $5 million to aid efforts in fighting the wildfire and repair the damage done to the Amazon rainforest, which is also known as the ‘lungs of the planet,’ considering they produce up to 20% of the world's oxygen.
The Amazon Forest Fund stated: "The Amazon rainforest is on fire, with more than 9,000 wildfires scorching delicate, irreplaceable landscapes across Brazil this week - year to date, more than 72,000 fires have been reported by Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE). This is a significant increase from the 40,000 fires in Brazil at this point last year,"
The organization explained - “the money raised will be distributed directly to local partners and the indigenous communities protecting the Amazon, the incredible diversity of wildlife that lives there, and the health of the planet overall."
According to the reports in CBS News, there are several additional organizations to donate to that are working to save the rainforest, including Amazon Conservation Team, Amazon Conservation Association, the Rainforest Trust and the Rainforest Foundation.
