Kundali Bhagya’s Sanjay Gangnani and Sanjog’s Rajat Dahiya talk about Guru Nanak Jayanti

Today is Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. The celebrations on this day begin with Prabhat Pheris or early morning processions that begin at the Gurudwara. Two days before Guru Nanak Jayanti, Akhand Path or a forty-eight-hour non-stop reading of the Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book of the Sikhs) is held in the Gurudwaras.

On this day, Sikhs and Punjabis visit Gurudwara and donate food in langar. India Forums got in touch with Zee TV actors Sanjay Gangnani and Rajat Dahiya and asked them about their thoughts on Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Sanjay Gagnani who essays the role of Prithvi in Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya says “It is an auspicious day to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji's birthday. I remember visiting a Gurudwara with my friends for the festival when I was a kid. First I used to attend spiritual ‘Katha’, then go for langar, a special community lunch arranged by volunteers at Gurudwaras. I love how the celebrations on this day commence early in the morning with ‘Prabhat Pheris’  that happens near the Gurudwara. Two days before Guru Nanak Jayanti, Akhand Path or a 48-hour non-stop reading of the Guru Granth Sahib is held in the Gurudwaras. I strongly believe in Seva, and the importance of it begins at home for me. We must love ourselves, and our near and dear ones to be able to do charity outside our homes. Gratitude is the key to happiness and  I have learnt to be grateful for all the blessings in life. I wish you and your family a very Happy Gurpurab! I pray that you are showered with the divine blessings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji today and forever.”

Rajat Dahiya, who essays the role of Gopal in Zee TV’s Sanjog mentioned, “In my childhood days, I used to be very happy because we used to get leave from school. But, now I believe this festival is as important to me as Diwali or any other festival. I make sure to visit Gurudwara every Guru Nanak Jayanti and serve ‘Langar’ there after listening to Ardaas. This year, I will be working but I am grateful to him for the work I am doing, and I hope to give 100% of myself to my work as I believe that our work is our god. Bangla Sahib in Delhi is one of the gurudwaras, where I feel peaceful and I just love visiting there whenever I am in the city. The only message I want to give my fans is to be grateful to God for everything you have and keep loving our show.”
