Anjum Fakih, currently seen in Kundali Bhagya as Srishti, has come a long way since she started her journey as an actor. As the show embarks a huge feat of 1000 episodes on July 15, she spoke to India Forums about her time as an actor so far, whether she feels like she has come a long way and a takeaway that will stay with her forever.
Tell us about your journey as an actor so far.
I think the journey has been absolutely great until now. There is a lot that I have learned along the way and as an actor, I have really evolved in the process. I think a lot of that has been because of the various characters that I have played over the course of my journey, Srishti’s character from Kundali Bhagya especially. Although Srishti and Anjum are more or less one and the same, there are a lot of things that I love about Srishti which are different from my personality. I have been living her life for quite some time now and I am really enjoying essaying this character. I also feel my journey wouldn’t be as special without the people that I have met in this industry. I feel I have been really blessed to be around kind people and honestly, I wouldn’t have come so far had I not got their love and blessings. So, touch wood it’s all going well and I hope the years coming by will be as beautiful.
Does it feel like you've come a long way from where you started, especially with a show as iconic as yours?
Yes, it's definitely been a long but very memorable journey. I will be honest, there have been a few ups and downs but then again, which actor does not face that today. The important thing is the learning that you take away from all of it and in that way, I feel there is a lot that I have learned. From the time I began my journey as Srishti to now, I feel I have become a more confident person and also someone who is open to accepting new challenges. Being a part of Kundali Bhagya has been one of the many highlights of my career and I will always be thankful for where this show has taken me. I never thought my character would receive so much love from the viewers. In fact, I believe it’s their support that has made me better each day.
A takeaway from the show that will stay forever.
The one takeaway that I have adopted over these years is that there is really no substitute for hard work, there is no shortcut that one can take to achieve success. As actors, we have worked round the clock, delivering episode after episode to entertain our viewers. Today, when I see all the love pouring in for Srishti, for our show, I feel it’s all worth it. All those long nights have really paid off in some way when viewers appreciate your on-screen performance. This is something that I learned very early on in life and I have been following this learning with each role that I take. Another key takeaway that I have learned through all of this is to count the people in your life as blessings. Each person who has been a part of my professional journey has contributed in a really great way to my growth and I will always be grateful for their presence in my life.
