Kriti Sanon all set to team up with Shahid Kapoor for the sequel of Deepika Padukone’s THIS film

Back in 2012, Dinesh Vijan collaborated with Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty for the film Cocktail, directed by Homi Adajania. The movie was a huge hit at the time of its release, and its music has endured over the years. Cocktail played a pivotal role in transforming Deepika Padukone from an actor to a star. Now, after 13 years, Dinesh Vijan is preparing for Cocktail 2, but this time with a different cast. As per Pinkvilla, Cocktail 2 will maintain the love triangle theme and will star Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.

“After the success of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon are reuniting on Cocktail 2. The duo loved the script and are excited to venture into the world of this romantic comedy. Producer Dinesh Vijan is also a big fan of the genre, and feels the script of Cocktail 2 is the right one to bring the romantic comedies back in fashion,” revealed a source to Pinkvilla.

In the evolution from Cocktail to Cocktail 2, Dinesh Vijan collaborated with Imtiaz Ali, while for the sequel, he has teamed up with filmmaker Luv Ranjan.

“Cocktail 2 is written by Luv Ranjan and the filmmaker will be involved through the entire creative process as a partner on the film. It’s a script that’s loaded with humour and light-hearted moments with the emotion of friendship at the core of it. Luv is a master of this genre, and the association of Luv and Dinoo is something to lookout for. The actors and the entire team of Cocktail is bullish on the film, as it’s a wholesome entertainer with two of the most likeable actors of the present generation – Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon,” the source added.

Cocktail 2, helmed by Homi Adajania, is set to commence filming in May 2025. Apart from the lead actors, a substantial ensemble cast is anticipated to join Cocktail 2, with the casting process currently in progress. Shahid Kapoor transitions to Cocktail 2 following the conclusion of his work on the Vishal Bhardwaj-directed Arjun Ustara / Evil. Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon will wrap up her commitments on the Aanand L Rai project, Tere Ishk Mein, before transitioning to Cocktail 2.
