Kareena Kapoor - Aamir Khan was apologetic for the failure of 'Laal Singh Chaddha'

Over a year ago, Aamir Khan made his return to the movies after the debacle of Thugs of Hindostan (2018) with Laal Singh Chaddha (2022). Even though the latter was an official remake of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump, it was expected by many that the film would bring in big box office numbers and finally have Khan yet another success to his name.

Unfortunately, Laal Singh Chaddha went on to flop at the box office in spite of getting rave reviews from the critics. While it was an Aamir Khan-led film, it was also Kareena Kapoor Khan who received the maximum acclaim for her character. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Kapoor Khan mentioned how she bumped into Khan at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), where Khan was apparently dejected and apologetic about the performance of the film.

Kapoor Khan then mentioned that she told him that she doesn't judge friendships or relationships based on the performance of the film. As one would remember, Laal Singh Chaddha had an opening of Rs 11.7 crores, and following the next few days, it never witnessed any considerable growth and ended its theatrical run at Rs 61.36 crores - making it one of the biggest box office failures last year.

She further added that the film was warm, that Khan was entirely immersed in his role, and that the film's performance was affected by the fact that COVID-19 had just slowed down and people were in search of something energetic and fun rather than emotional.

On the work front, Kapoor Khan will next be seen in Singham Again, Hansal Mehta's The Buckingham Murders and The Crew alongside Tabu and Kriti Sanon.
