Actor-Singer Karan Oberoi is in the news since a long time due to the rape and extortion case that he was wrongly accused of by a lady tantric and healer. There were a series of events that followed after the actor was booked under charges. He was sent behind the bars, where he stayed for a good amount of time and later, was released. The actor had joined the #MenToo moment too and later, the tantric who accused him of rape was arrested as it turned out that she plotted a fake attack on herself.
Now, as per the latest developments, Karan has filed a complaint against the investigating officer, DP Sonawane in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri East. A leading daily quoted Karan’s lawyer that they have filed a criminal complaint against officer Sonawane for submitting a false report against Karan Oberoi in the course of hearing of the remand application.
His lawyer even mentioned that they believe that it was a deliberate action of framing Karan by attempting to favour the complainant and thus they feel that the officer is liable to be prosecuted.
Furthermore, Karan told the daily that he feels the investigation was biased and defective. He also stated that the officer claimed at the time of filing the report that Karan’s laptop and mobile were not seized, but Oberoi said that it was. He also expressed that the lady’s phone should have been seized too, but it only happened after a month.
Sonawane told the daily that he hasn’t received any such intimation.
Karan wishes to set an example for all the men victims of such cases.
