Kangana Ranaut, known for her unfiltered opinions and bold statements, recently revisited one of her past comments about Ranbir Kapoor, where she had labeled him a "serial skirt chaser." In a promo for the popular TV show Aap Ki Adalat, Kangana addressed this remark while speaking with the show's host, Rajat Sharma. When questioned about her controversial tweet, she quipped, "Aap toh aise bol rahe hai jaise wo Swami Vivekanand ho" (You're talking as though he is Swami Vivekananda), drawing laughter and further igniting discussions around her outspoken nature.
The origins of this controversy date back to 2020 when Kangana first called out Ranbir Kapoor on social media. She accused him of being a "serial skirt chaser," a term that quickly grabbed attention. This comment was part of a broader critique that also targeted Deepika Padukone, whom Kangana referred to as a "self-proclaimed mental illness patient." Kangana's tweet highlighted what she perceived as double standards in Bollywood, where, according to her, star kids like Ranbir are shielded from harsh criticism, while outsiders like herself are subjected to constant scrutiny and derogatory labels.
Kangana's outspoken nature intensified after the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020. She has since been vocal about what she describes as the Bollywood "mafia," targeting prominent figures such as Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, and Ananya Panday. In various interviews, Kangana has accused these celebrities of promoting nepotism and sidelining talented outsiders, which she believes contributed to the unfavourable treatment of actors like Sushant.
Amidst these controversies, Kangana is preparing for the release of her next directorial venture, Emergency. The film, in which she stars as the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is set during the tumultuous period of the 1975 emergency in India. The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, and Milind Soman, among others. As Kangana continues to be a polarizing figure in the industry, her upcoming film is generating considerable buzz, keeping audiences and critics alike intrigued by her portrayal of one of India's most controversial leaders.
