Chennai, Aug 15 (IANS) Director Priyadarshan's 'Kanchipuram', who says the film exposes Communists while depicting the plight of sari weavers here, is to be screened at the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival starting Sep 4.

'The film will be screened Sep 12. It will expose Communists who preach a lot and practice little,' Priyadarshan told reporters Friday.

'It depicts the plight of weavers in this temple town. The movie shows the sweat behind silk,' he added.

'Kanchipuram' revolves around a man who wants to present a silk sari to his daughter on her wedding. Produced by Percept Picture Co and 4-Frames, the 145-minute film was shot in Mysore on a limited budget.

Kanchipuram, 60 from Chennai, is known for its four centuries old silk trade. It was also a seat of Buddhism, Jainism and Hindu temples for over 2,000 years.

'It'll later have a limited release in Tamil Nadu with just 12 prints,' said Priyadarshan.
