Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy are cousins says Shahid Kapoor

Bollywood’s recent trend of remaking golden-era classics is known to everyone. But nowadays not only old movies are remade. Directors and producers remake Hindi movies in a different language and vice versa. 

Such recent movie is Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, it’s a remade version of Arjun Reddy that starred South star Vijay Deverakonda. Both the movies are directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

The film has become the talk of the town since its teaser was launched and the fans loved Shahid’s angry avatar. Many comparisons were being done as Shahid’s effortless acting as the angry doctor, jilted in love left fans in complete awe of him. 

Post his return from his London holiday with Mira Rajput, Shahid is charged up to dive right into the promotions for Kabir Singh. In a recent interview, Shahid opened up about his view of Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy. 

Shahid mentioned that Vijay Deverakonda was absolutely flawless in Arjun Reddy. But he also emphasized that Arjun and Kabir are not the same. Shahid shared that in Kabir Singh, Sandeep has changed the fundamentals and his character is a Delhi boy which changes a lot of things. 

Shahid said, “Vijay Deverakonda was spectacular in the film. If you ask me, Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy are cousins; they are not the same person. We have tried to do something different because it's important to rediscover the journey of the character. We shifted the milieu to Delhi and Mumbai; so, by extension, his family and upbringing have changed. But, we have retained the fundamental energy of the character.”

Shahid also mentioned that to get in the character of a medical student and is full of anger and rage; it was hard as he is a different person in personal life. The dashing actor mentioned that he had trouble ‘internalizing his rage’ while shooting for Kabir Singh. 

Kabir Singh’s teaser showed the angry side of a medical student who is possessive about his girlfriend. Kabir Singh also stars Kiara Advani who will be seen as Shahid’s girlfriend. Kabir Singh is helmed by Arjun Reddy director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Kabir Singh is slated to release on June 21, 2019.
