John Abraham breaks silence on The Diplomat’s box office struggle, compares it with Chhaava and Pushpa 2, says audience loves drama more.

The Diplomat

John Abraham’s latest film, The Diplomat, is facing challenges at the box office. Despite his strong screen presence and an engaging storyline, the movie has struggled to gain momentum. With fresh releases like Chhaava and the much-awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule dominating the big screens, The Diplomat has a tough journey ahead.

In a conversation with TellyChakkar, John shared his views on releasing The Diplomat amid stiff competition. The actor clarified that box office numbers don’t bother him. He said, "So the best thing is I don’t think about the other films. I don’t think about numbers. As a producer, I only think about how good my product is. Even if you interview my director, he will tell you that we were only focused on our film. We cared about background music and editing. We never thought about how much business other films were doing. That didn’t matter to us." John further revealed that The Diplomat had no big marketing budget, making the release even more challenging.

Interestingly, John acknowledged the help he received from Chhaava's producer. He revealed, "The producer of Chhaava was kind enough to attach our teaser to his film. That’s why you’ll see a special thanks to him in The Diplomat. As a producer and actor, I don’t worry about what others are doing. It’s like sitting in your own house – why would you constantly think about your neighbor’s house?"

John also commented on the country's obsession with other people’s business, saying, "Unfortunately, this country is about Bigg Boss. People are always concerned about what’s happening elsewhere instead of focusing on their own work."

About The Diplomat

Directed by Shivam Nair, The Diplomat is inspired by real-life events and explores the high-stakes world of diplomacy, intelligence, and national security. John plays a dedicated diplomat who must navigate a complex geopolitical crisis.

While the film is struggling in terms of collections, John’s performance and the intense storyline have impressed many. Now, it remains to be seen if The Diplomat can gain momentum in the coming days.
