Jhanak: Gaurav Sharma responds to reports of 20-Year Leap

Star Plus’ television drama Jhanak, which stars Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja, is reportedly set to take a major 20-year leap. Earlier, India Forums had exclusively shared that this leap is in the works and that major changes are expected in the cast.

According to reports, the current lead actors, Hiba Nawab, Krushal Ahuja, and Chandni Sharma, are planning to exit the show. Their exit is said to be connected to the leap, which would require their characters to age significantly. The actors are reportedly not keen on portraying much older versions of their characters.

Recently, the show introduced a 4-year leap in its storyline. After this time jump, Jhanak (played by Hiba Nawab) was shown living in a village in Madhya Pradesh with a new character played by Gaurav Sharma. Her earlier storyline with Aniruddha (played by Krushal Ahuja) came to an end before this change.

India Forums reached out to actor Gaurav Sharma to ask about the upcoming 20-year leap. He said, "There is no official confirmation about the leap. If it happens and the story is good, I’ll definitely consider being a part of it."

For those unfamiliar with the show, Jhanak originally featured Hiba Nawab, Krushal Ahuja, and Chandni Sharma in central roles. The show had a promising start when it first aired, but in recent months, it has struggled with low TRP ratings. Viewers have pointed out that the show’s storyline has become repetitive and lacks freshness. Because of this, the makers have been under pressure to make significant changes.

Interestingly, Hiba and Krushal were earlier set to be replaced when the leap was first planned. However, due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the leap was delayed as it was seen as a risky time to introduce new faces. As a result, both actors continued in the show temporarily.

Now, with talks of a longer time leap resurfacing, the makers appear to be aiming for a complete revamp of the show in hopes of improving ratings and winning back viewers. While no official confirmation has been made about the leap or the new cast, fans are eagerly waiting to see how the story of Jhanak unfolds in the coming weeks.
