Jennifer Lopez is once again in the middle of a legal dispute concerning the use of paparazzi photographs on her social media platforms. The singer and actor is being taken to court over a pair of images she shared earlier this year, which were taken at a Hollywood event preceding the Golden Globe Awards.

Photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, have initiated legal proceedings against Lopez, alleging that the photos she uploaded to her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts were posted without the necessary licensing. The lawsuit seeks compensation of $150,000 per image, citing unauthorised use and infringement of copyright ownership.

The contested photographs were clicked outside Chateau Marmont as Lopez made her way to the Amazon MGM Studios and Vanity Fair celebration. According to the complaint, the images were subsequently used in a manner that allegedly benefited Lopez’s public profile, online engagement, and brand associations.

The legal documents argue that the posts served purposes that extended beyond casual sharing. They claim the visuals were strategically used to highlight fashion affiliations, draw attention to her red carpet presence, and amplify visibility for associated labels. The complaint also notes that efforts were made to settle the matter outside court, but the parties failed to reach an agreement.

This is not the first time Lopez has encountered legal challenges of this nature. Previous cases from 2019 and 2020 involved similar allegations concerning the use of photographers' material on her accounts.

Other celebrities, including Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa, and Khloe Kardashian, have also dealt with related claims over image rights in recent years. These cases highlight the ongoing tension between public figures and image licensing companies, particularly over the ownership and usage of photographs taken in public spaces.

As the case moves forward, it underscores broader debates around intellectual property laws and digital content usage in an era where celebrity social media is a powerful marketing tool. The legal proceedings are expected to further define the boundaries between publicity and photo ownership.
