'Javed and me are like Yuvraj and Dhoni' - Sandhya Mridul

As tensions increase on the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Dance floor, celebrities are being more than cautious not to make one wrong move. Sandhya Mridul who has recently been bitten by the bug of injury, wants to just focus on her dance, and move ahead. An epitome of perseverance and hard work, Sandhya is a fighter to the core.

Here is Sandhya Mridul in a one-to-one with our reporter, Hiral Anju Bhatt.

How has your experience in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa been?

Jhalak takes me back to my school days where, as kids, we had a lot of fun and yet, we learnt a lot and had the urge to do better. The ambience here is the same, and I am here to learn and absorb whatever I can.

Your thoughts on the Wild Card Entry.

It does not matter to me, because the competition remains the same for all of us. I know I have to strive hard to be here, and I am concentrating only on that.

How did you manage to put up such a brilliant performance despite the injuries?

Honestly, I just wanted to do a good job, and wanted the judges to like my performance on the merit of my dance, and not because of my injury. I really don’t want any sympathy votes. One of the reasons why I didn’t want the injury story to be known to everyone, is because I wanted everyone to focus on my dance.

A perfect 30 in the last three weeks… How does it feel?

Obviously it feels great. Actually if you see, right from start, we have been going up the ladder. We have had low scores too, but each score has been better than the first one. And now that we have had 30, I don’t really know where to go from here. (laughs)

How do you and Javed gel together? How is he as a choreographer?

We are like Yuvraj and Dhoni. I believe we make an excellent team, and that’s what brings out the best in us. If I have lasted so many rounds and still going fine, it is all because of Javed and his guidance.

We have heard that you have got  couple of offers for item songs after Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa happened, take us thro’ this new journey.

Yes, I have had a few offers, from brilliant production houses, and after I recover from my injury, I might take up a few assignments. I want to try out different things and why not do item songs? Recently, a few people created a little fuss about me posing for a magazine, where I was revealing a little more, and I don’t understand what the fuss was all about. I don’t think I looked cheap. I looked sexy and looking sexy is miles apart from looking cheap. Hope all understand the difference.

You’ve done films, television, reality shows and much more, do you believe that you are creatively satisfied?

Not at all! I don’t think I am creatively satisfied, I have a lot more to achieve in life, and this is just the beginning.
