Javed Akhtar reveals an interesting story

Classic Legends - Season 3, the popular show hosted by living legend Javed Akhtar himself, is all set to showcase its third episode which is dedicated to musical greats – Shankar and Jaikishan. Taking us back to the golden era of Indian Cinema, this week’s episode will spill the beans on life and musical creations of Padamshri winners Shankar Jaikishan who have given the Indian film industry some of the most melodious and everlasting songs.

One of the most famous musical compositions ‘Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh’by Shankar Jaikishanwas an instant hit with the audiences at that time and continues to be a rage amongst the younger generations. The song is the perfect example of situational accidents and Javed Akhtar is all set to tell the audiences how the duo came up with the lyrics for the song in the upcoming episode of Classic Legends season 3.

The tale started when Jaikishanji, his assistant Dutta Ramji and Hasrat Jaipuri were travelling and a friend of theirs was following them in another vehicle. To ensure that their friend was still following them, Duttaramji wouldrepeatedly turn around to check on him. That’s when Jaikishanji, askedhim why he was constantly turning around and said those epic lines ‘Yeh kya tum baar baar piche mud mud kar dekh rahe ho mud mud kar mat dekho’. This is when the eureka moment occurred and they used ‘Mud Mud Ke Na dekh Mud Mud Ke…….’ as the chorus for the song that they were currently writing.
