Janhvi Kapoor made her debut with Shashank Khaitan's Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khattar, and is here in the showbiz to stay! The 22-year-old actress already has four big films in her kitty and is currently super busy prepping for it. With Dostana 2 co-starring Kartik Aaryan, the Gunjan Saxena Biopic, Roohi Afza opposite Rajkummar Rao, and Takht awaiting in the next year, Janhvi has her calendars full of exciting projects.
Despite being just a film old in the industry, Janhvi is often pitted against her other contemporaries like Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan, Alaya F, to name a few.
Besides the other young actresses, Janhvi is often compared to her mother and late actress, Sridevi. Talking about the comparison she faces with her mother, Janhvi says:

There’s a section of society which has been able to do that with Dhadak, but there are people who couldn’t make that differentiation and they still look for Sridevi in me. Maybe after more of my work comes out, they’ll understand I’m a different type of actor and I’ll make different choices.

When asked if she would want to recreate Sridevi’s magic on screen, the Dhadak actress stated “I don’t think that anyone can recreate that magic. No one can. Also, when something has been done so well, I don’t know if it’s right to try to attempt to do it again.”
Besides, Janhvi calls comparison a ‘the by-products of our profession.’ “I feel motivated when I see what others are doing, and I learn from them. Everyone has been so brave and making such original choices that it’s a wonderful space to be in” she adds.

I know the things that I need to work on, which other people might be better at. So, we can all coexist and there’s space for everyone.”
