Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2018 and recovered successfully from the deadly ailment. He shares that he knew he had cancer even before the tests.

"I knew I had cancer even before I went to test for it... I don't know why but I had a gut feeling that such an obstinate blister can only be cancer. I told my gut feeling even to the doctor” he told Times of India in a recent interview.

Roshan was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the throat, which was at an early stage. He shares some heartbreaking details about his journey, right from suffering to overcoming the health hazard. "I must tell you though that I had lost 12 kg in three months sometime around March 2019 and felt very tired when I walked. But I pushed myself” he shared.

The Koi Mil Gaya director took cancer with a head on continued to work after chemotherapy sessions.

The filmmaker has now successfully recovered and states that he has now built a disciplined lifestyle and undergoes a PET scan every six months.

However, Rakesh Roshan reveals that while it is not allowed, he consumes alcohol almost every day. "Cigarettes have become bygones for me, but I still take two pegs almost every evening. It's not allowed but I feel mentally fit, and that's all that matters isn't it? My latest PET scan says I am fine," he concluded.
