Popular television actor Kunal Jaisingh, best known for his role in Ishqbaaz, recently took to social media to share his deep concern over India’s lack of civic awareness. Through a personal experience, he shed light on a problem he believes is often overlooked but vital for the country’s progress—basic civic sense.

Kunal shared that while driving behind a school bus belonging to a reputed English-medium institution, he noticed a child casually throw a chips packet out of the moving vehicle. What disturbed him most was not just the act itself, but the fact that it came from a child attending a top-tier private school. “It starts with education,” he wrote. “Not the first time I’ve seen this — but today, it hit different.”

Elaborating further, Kunal wrote, “Yeh koi chhoti baat nahi hai. Yeh hamare desh ki ek badi aur gehri problem hai — civic sense ki kami.” He expressed concern that while the Indian education system is rapidly embracing subjects like coding and artificial intelligence, it appears to be overlooking essential life lessons, such as cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

“School mein coding sikhayi ja rahi hai, AI projects ho rahe hain… par kachra kahan fekna chahiye — yeh koi nahi sikha raha,” he stated. Kunal pointed out the irony of spending large sums on modern education but failing to instill the most basic values in children. He believes civic sense should not be the sole responsibility of government awareness campaigns but something that is taught in every classroom and home.

The actor was clear in assigning responsibility to both schools and parents. “Itni mehngi education, itna exposure… lekin basic civic sense? Zero.” He urged people to pause and reflect: “Sochne wali baat hai. Aap kya sikha rahe ho apne bachchon ko?”

Kunal’s message ended with a powerful statement: “Swachhta begins with sanskaar.” He emphasised that cleanliness and civic responsibility must stem from the values taught at home and in school. “This is not just a municipality issue — it’s a national mindset issue,” he concluded.

His heartfelt and candid post resonated widely with his followers and the broader public, sparking numerous online conversations. Many praised his boldness and agreed that change begins with the smallest actions—and that both education systems and families must lead the way.
