Is Ishwari's Over Protectiveness for Dev in 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke..' NORMAL?

A little too much, don't you think?

No one can deny that 'Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi' is one of the most revolutionary and modern shows in recent times. The show has managed to break several stereotypes and touch several untouched concepts in the most expressive way.

However, the recent episodes of the show have witnessed several fans complaining about the track becoming a saas-bahu saga and loosing the charm.

While, that remains to be a debatable opinion, we do feel that the character of Ishwari enacted by actress, Supriya Pilgaonkar is getting a bit too corny and unreasonable.

Being an over protective Mother is understandable..but...

We realise that the most important shade of Ishwari is about how she is extremely protective and insecure about Dev (Shaheer Sheikh). And, to an extent, we have seen instances where that is totally justified, thanks to the crisp writing and impeccable performance of Surpiya. However...

...However, its about time you have a reality check!

Though it is marginally acceptable that Ishwari is the way she is, it is about time, she becomes a little more accepting about Dev and Sonakshi (Erica Fernandes). We understood how before marriage, Ishwari had her own inhibitions towards Dev and Sonakshi's union plus it took time for her to digest the fact that Dev cannot live without Sonakshi. But, it is certainly the time where she starts accepting the reality.

We did see flashes of it though..

In some of the recent episodes, we did see a few flashes about Ishwari making an attempt of being reasonable and practical to accept Sonakshi and love her for being her son's wife. Be it saving Sonakshi from Dadi Bua's (Amita Udgata) constant attacks or being patient and explaining Sonakshi about the way the house functions in spite of several mistakes.

But, the recent times have seen Ishwari go really overboard...

But, this has been really short-lived as in recent times; Ishwari has gone overboard when it comes to feeling protective about Dev. In a recent instance, when Sonakshi and Dev cancel their honeymoon owing to Ishwari's ill-health, Sonakshi is at her understanding best where she assures Ishwari that for her too, family comes first.

However, in spite of appreciating Sonakshi for her efforts and feelings towards her family, she ends up getting even more insecure.

In a pep talk with Mamaji (Mushtaq Khan), Ishwari literally tells him that Sonakshi is so good that she fears that Dev, in the flow of this relationship, will end up forgetting her and his responsibilities towards his sisters and family.

Thank God for Mamaji!

Thankfully, that pep talk has Mamaji explaining Ishwari why is it pivotal for her to accept Sonakshi and that holding the family together is in fact Ishwari's responsibility and not Dev's. She needs to accept that his son is now married and lives do change.

But, alas! It seems that had no effect on Ishwari..

While, we applaud the fact the makers penned such an amazing scene between Mamaji and Ishwari, it seems that did not have much effect on Ishwari. In the recent Diwali episode, we witness how Sonakshi gets hurt and Dev lifts her up and takes her to the room. Logical enough.

However, watching this, Ishwari gets irksome and goes to the temple without informing Dev. Although she doesn't say anything to anyone but the glimpse of her jealousy pang in this situation was like too much! Like seriously??

This scene, in its essence did seem a factor how Ishwari did go overboard. How can a mother feel jealous about her own son and his wife!

There is a need to balance this..

We do not condemn the whole crux of the show, but we do feel that lately, some representations have been difficult to digest. The show is undoubtedly one of the best and in spite of minor glitches, will continue to be a winner.

We have total faith in the team of the show to come up with scenes and tracks that balance Ishwari's character before it goes out of hand.
