Bollywood is gearing up for a major box office showdown as two highly anticipated films—War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and Lahore 1947 featuring Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan—are set to release on Independence Day 2025. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, this holiday weekend will witness an intense competition between the two patriotic-themed films.

Initially, Yash Raj Films had locked the August 15 release date for War 2, the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. However, a source revealed, "Lahore 1947 is a film that celebrates India's Independence, and what better than August 15 to release the film. They are strongly considering this date and will make an official announcement very soon."

Earlier, Pinkvilla had exclusively reported that the makers of Lahore 1947 were eyeing an Independence Day release. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, is a grand historical drama with Sunny Deol in the lead role and Aamir Khan in a special cameo. Preity Zinta also stars in this film, which promises to be a poignant exploration of India's partition era.

On the other hand, War 2, helmed by Ayan Mukerji, boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani, alongside Hrithik Roshan. The action-packed thriller is expected to continue the legacy of its predecessor with high-octane sequences and gripping narratives.
