‘I wish our TRPs go up’: Jamai No 1’s Abhishek Malik shares his wish on the occasion of Lohri

Abhishek Malik, who is seen as Neel in Jamai No. 1, which is produced by Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah under their banner Studio LSD, says Lohri and Makar Sankranti hold a very important place in his life, especially because his nani used to celebrate it with much enthusiasm and excitement. Since he lost her last year, he confessed that it’s a very emotional time for him.

Makar Sankranti and Lohri hold a very important place in my life, especially since I lost my nani last year. She was very keen on celebrating Lohri with all the family members. Till last year, we used to celebrate it in Delhi, and it was an amazing experience. The vibe was completely different, with DJ setups, all our close ones coming together, enjoying good food, and traditional Lohri songs playing in the background,” he said.

“I was very close to my nani, so this festival holds an emotional significance for me,” he added.

He shared that when in Delhi, Lohri was the time when all his friends, family, and relatives gathered. “In Delhi, our celebrations used to be grand and vibrant. We would set up a DJ, invite all our family and close friends, and enjoy a variety of traditional delicacies while listening to Lohri songs. It was a time to come together and share joy with loved ones,” he said.

A self-confessed foodie, he said, “As a Punjabi, I feel we are always on the hunt for good food. I absolutely love indulging in revadi, gajak, and mumfali ki patti during this festival. There’s a unique charm in enjoying these delicacies in the winter season—it’s a vibe in itself.”

Any wish that you have during the festival? “All I wish for is that our TRP goes up and we continue to receive positive responses from our audience. I hope this year turns out to be truly nice and progressive for us,” Abhishek ended.
